Quickstart

1. Install the CLI

npx -y mountable-cli mount <filesystem> /mnt/work # npm
uvx mountable mount <filesystem> /mnt/work # PyPI
curl -fsSL https://mountable.io/install.sh | sh # installs to ~/.local/bin

All three run the same mountable CLI, built for Linux and macOS (x86_64 and arm64). Mounting is verified on Linux x86_64 only; see Contract and limits. npx -y mountable-cli and uvx mountable run it without installing; below, mountable stands for whichever you use. The CLI is one self-contained binary; mountable version prints its version.

2. Sign in to the console

Open the console and sign in with Google or GitHub. The first time, create an organisation; you become its owner.

3. Create a filesystem

In Filesystems, enter a name and choose Create filesystem. Note its id (for example k5q2ztr4mvd7wn3xa6jhebcyfu); you mount filesystems by id.

4. Sign in the CLI

mountable login

Set MOUNTABLE_API_URL first if your Mountable API is not at the default https://mountable.io. The CLI prints a link to /app/device and a short code. Open the link, check that the code on the page matches the one in your terminal, then choose Approve.

5. Mount it

mkdir -p ~/work
mountable mount k5q2ztr4mvd7wn3xa6jhebcyfu ~/work

mountable mount needs FUSE and stays in the foreground while the filesystem is mounted. In another terminal, ~/work is now the filesystem. Add --ro to mount read-only. Owners and admins can mount every filesystem in their organisation read-write; members mount what they or their groups are granted.

6. Unmount

mountable unmount ~/work
